Richard Simmons is opening up about being diagnosed with skin cancer.
The fitness personality wrote about seeking medical care for a 'strange looking bump under my right eye,' in a post on Facebook Tuesday.'I had a tube of neosporin which I would put on I the morning and the evening….it was still there,' he continued. 'It was time to call my dermatologist.'Simmons wrote that he began to get nervous during the exam by his doctor.'He comes back about 20 minutes later and says the C word. You have cancer,' Simmons wrote.
This time was worse than before…It was deeper. I did not cry this time but I did grit my teeth.'Simmons said he was once again told to return and ended his post by writing, 'to be continued.' He did not say when he was diagnosed.CNN has reached out to his representative for additional comment.According to the Cleveland Clinic, basal cell carcinoma is the most common type of cancer and is typically treated successfully with surgical excision.
