Some churches have more of a tragic history than some expect, as seen in a The Man from Rome exclusive clip. Based on Arturo Pérez-Reverte's novel La piel del tambor, the story centers on Richard Armitage's Father Quart, a Vatican intelligence operative who is tasked with investigating a crumbling Spanish church that is said to "kill to defend itself," a warning brought forth when a hacker sends an anonymous message to the Pope.
The video, as seen above, finds Armitage's Quart visiting Salamanca's Macarena at a nearby church, Our Lady of Tears, of which her family founded. Initially sharing a romantic moment between the two, things turn dramatic when Quart learns of the tragic story behind the church's founding and namesake, Macarena's Great Aunt who lost her mind.
