Dallas County sheriff’s deputies arrested a man Monday after they say he crashed a stolen sports car during a chase on Interstate 35E.
Tyler Charles Payne, 31, faces charges of aggravated robbery and failure to identify. It is unclear whether he has an attorney. Just before 2 p.m. Monday, authorities were tracking a Porsche they said Payne had stolen in Dallas after ditching a Cadillac SUV stolen earlier in Frisco. Deputies were following Payne south on I-35E when he collided with another vehicle near Eighth Street, the department said.
Payne got out of the Porsche, approached a Pontiac and “attempted a second aggravated robbery,” before he was taken into custody, according to deputies.Deputies said Payne, from Collin County, had escaped jails in Hinds County, Miss., on Christmas Eve and Choctaw County, Okla., in November. In Mississippi he was being held on charges of armed carjacking after police say he took a vehicle from a grandparent who was dropping a child off at school,
