Jurors also found a special allegation the defendant used a deadly weapon to be true.
REDWOOD CITY – A 27-year-old Redwood City man has been convicted of the attempted robbery of a woman outside her work place in fall 2021, according to the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office.
Prosecutors said jurors reached the verdict after an hour and a half of deliberations on Friday afternoon. They also found a special allegation that the defendant, Adam Michael Johnson, used a dangerous weapon in the commission of the crime to be true. The attempted robbery was reported around 8:25 p.m., on Sept. 24, 2021, in the 1700 block of El Camino Real in Redwood City.
The victim, a 34-year-old woman, was leaving work at Yanga Enterprises when Johnson approached her and asked for money. When she said no, Johnson became aggressive and showed the handle of a knife from his sweatshirt, according to the district attorney’s office. The victim then took out her cellphone to call police. Prosecutors said Johnson pulled out a 12-inch knife and ordered the victim not to call police. At that same moment, the victim’s husband arrived to pick her up and Johnson quickly walked away.Related Articles
