Records obtained by The Post on Thursday afternoon show that the doctor indeed reported the minor’s abortion to the relevant state agencies before the legally mandated deadline to do so.
“We’re gathering the evidence as we speak, and we’re going to fight this to the end — including looking at her licensure, if she failed to report,” Rokita told Fox News’s Jesse Watters on Wednesday night. Watters had suggested the doctor could face “a criminal charge.”
Rokita again raised doubts Thursday in a letter to Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb , saying that his office had requested, but not received, documentation from state agencies that the girl’s abortion had been properly reported by the OB/GYN, Caitlin Bernard. But records obtained by The Washington Post on Thursday afternoon show that Bernard indeed reported the minor’s abortion to the relevant state agencies before the legally mandated deadline to do so.
