The revealed image of a lightsaber-like weapon is telling of how Zack Snyder's Rebel Moon might be able to succeed where recent Star Wars projects have failed. The Netflix film, set to release in December 2023, is a passion project for Snyder, who originally intended to make a Star Wars film for Disney.

Snyder's Rebel Moon could implore an intense style of swordsmanship, alongside his popular visual effects style in a way that could redefine lightsaber combat in film.
How Similar Is Rebel Moon To Star Wars? While not directly related to the Star Wars universe, Rebel Moon has many core values that defined the original trilogy. The film will follow a woman named Kora , as she seeks out a team of warriors to defend her colony from an oppressive enemy, which seems heavily inspired by the Empire in A New Hope. Visually, the movie appears very similar to Star Wars, albeit mixed with the different look of a Zack Snyder film.
