Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Zack Snyder's new sci-fi epic, Rebel Moon, introduces a big cast of characters, and Screen Rant learned all about them during our visit to the set in October 2022. While the story riffs off the classic Seven Samurai plot structure where a farming village seeks to assemble a team of warriors to defend against invaders, there's a plethora of worlds explored and characters introduced.
Gunnar - Michiel Huisman Gunnar starts the movie as a simple farmer on Veldt who decides to go with Kora on her mission to find warriors to defend against the Imperium. He's not fully aware of what he's getting himself into, but he's drawn to Kora and the mystery around her. Since Gunnar has never visited all these new locations before, Porter says his costume represents "all of his best pieces...So he's all dressed up.
Tarak - Staz Nair Tarak was once a warrior, but has moved on with his life. Prop Master Brad Elliot said "we meet him and he's a blacksmith...So he fights with a hammer and an axe alongside the Veltians." His family crest is a griffin and he has a necklace with a wax stamp of a griffin he carries around his neck, which Porter says is an actual piece of jewlery given to Nair in real life by his fiancé.
Milius - E. Duffy Milius is one of Bloodaxe's rebel fighters who comes from a planet that was totally overrun by the Imperium and sent to a prison camp, joining up with the Bloodaxe rebellion after they escaped from prison. Like actor E. Duffy, Milius identifies as nonbinary. Rebel Moon is E. Duffy's first role.
Harmada - Jena Malone Jena Malone has been in a few Snyder projects already, including the roles of Rocket in Sucker Punch and S.T.A.R. Labs scientist Jenet Klyburn in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and was also announced as a voice role in Snyder's Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas animated series, so it's fun to see her show up once again. In Rebel Moon, Malone plays Harmada, a giant alien that's half-spider half-woman.
