Heaney has pitched in one prior postseason game: with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2022, he pitched three relief innings against the San Diego Padres in the NLDS. His two starters this season against the Orioles have been vastly different; on April 4, in his season debut, he allowed seven earned runs in 2 and 2/3 innings. Nearly two months later, he pitched seven innings of one-run ball at Camden Yards.His last start — and his last few weeks — could be more important.
