Associate manager Will Venable will manage in Bochy’s place.
He’s spent six seasons as a major league coach with the Chicago Cubs , Boston Red Sox and Rangers. He played the second-to-last season of his nine-year MLB career “It’s all the same stuff, we’re preparing the same way,” Venable said Monday. “Boch has been really open-minded and open with the staff and leaning on the staff with a lot of stuff, and we’ll continue to ask those guys to have an impact on this game with the decisions that are made. Obviously there’s no replacing Bochy and who he is, but we’ll all step up.”Venable learned that he’d be managing Monday’s game on Sunday.
