The point is to use a language that doesn’t sound anything like the language normally spoken in their surroundings to help the dog distinguish commands from the handler. A dog lover nearly his whole life, Konieczka and Hope clearly have a strong bond both in work and play. Hope seems right at home in his new dual role of guardian and emotional support animal for the hospital’s daily visitors and staff.
“Code Good Boy,” said Konieczka, chuckling. “And that means we want the dog!” interrupted nurse Olivia Smolinski. The nurses got him his very own jar of treats and personalized it with the name “Officer Good Boy.”
