Experts expect few big surprises during the Russian leader's visit to China, seeing the meeting as more a symbolic gesture of support for Moscow. Western officials have criticised Beijing for not naming Hamas in statements on the Israel-Gaza conflict. Putin and Xi will discuss the countries' ties "in their entirety" when they meet this week, Lavrov told Wang."Both sides should plan commemorative activities, deepen strategic mutual trust, consolidate traditional friendship, and promote friendship from generation to generation," he said.
