DuPage County Board Chair Deborah Conroy is proposing a $611.7 million budget for DuPage County that increases 1.05% year over year.
DuPage County Board chair Deborah Conroy on Tuesday presented her first budget proposal as chief executive officer of Illinois’ second most populous county, for the 2024 fiscal year.
$2.5 million of the budget surplus was proposed to go toward affordable housing projects in DuPage bringing the county’s total investment in affordable housing solutions to $5 million for next year.The general fund, which acts as the primary operating fund for the county, of Conroy’s first budget proposal, increased 1% over last year to $241.7 million.
The new budget accounts for a 3% cost of living adjustment for county employees beginning in December, and a 3.5% increase to employee benefits. “I believe my proposal delivers important help to our residents who need it most, while making critical infrastructure investments now to take the pressure off future budgets,” she said
