Professor Farnsworth is dangerous.
Futurama is back on television screens once more, which means that the Planet Express boss – and resident mad scientist – Professor Farnsworth will inevitably endanger the crew, the Earth, and possibly the entire universe. Still, none of Farnsworth's schemes or inventions come close to being as dangerous as the one that nearly causes the planet's destruction in Futurama #27, from Bongo Comics Futurama line of comics.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Futurama #27 – written by Eric Rogers, with art by John Delaney – introduces one of Professor Farnsworth's most successful, and most potentially destructive, inventions: a ship capable of traveling to the Earth's inner core. When the technology fell into the wrong hands, it was left to Bender, Fry, and Leela to save Earth.
While they manage to do this, Farnsworth's core-breaching ships could have devastating consequences should the wrong sentient lifeforms get ahold of the technology again.Professor Farnsworth Is Reckless With His High-Danger Technology Professor Farnsworth is always depicted as having no regard for his crew's life.
Farnsworth Helps Save The Day, But Only After Nearly Dooming Earth Of course, Farnsworth also made a second ship, which Fry, Leela, and Bender take into the core, where they defeat the Magmoids, and save Earth. Professor Farnsworth pays the global government reparations for the damage to the planet with diamonds mined from the Earth’s core by Bender, and the status quo is restored. However, it is worth considering the capabilities of this ship, and their wider implications.
Were one of Farnsworth's planetary core-breaching ships be acquired, and the technology, be acquired by a group bent on universe-wide destruction, the outcome could be total annihilation. If the design was copied, and a fleet of ships was built, each armed with a warhead, they could be used for planetary destruction on a mass scale. With enough ships, every planet in the Futurama universe could be destroyed, rendering it uninhabitable.
