Houston Academy softball team earned a team to the state tournament on Tuesday, qualifying from the South Regional Tournament.
DAVID MUNDEE Houston Academy lost its showdown with Orange Beach 4-1 but bounced back to win the second qualifying spot to the state tournament with a 14-4 win over T.R. Miller on Tuesday during action at the Class 4A South Regional Tournament in Gulf Shores.
The Raiders loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh but a grounder led to a force out to end the game. Adams pitched six plus innings for HA, allowing five hits and three runs, while striking out three. Hodges got the final three outs, two on strikeouts, but gave up two hits, including the homer.
