Astronauts are to wear the lunar spacesuits on NASA’s 2025 Artemis III mission.
The new AxEMU custom glove design will enable astronauts to work with specialized tools to accomplish exploration needs and expand scientific opportunities.Italian Luxury fashion house Prada has announced it is to partner with Axiom Space to design and develop NASA’s next generation lunar spacesuits for the upcoming 2025 Artemis III Moon mission.
“The constantly forward-thinking ethos of Prada for humanity has broadened to his desire of adventure and to brave new horizons: space,” said Prada Group’s Marketing Director, Lorenzo Bertelli. “We are honoured to be a part of this historic mission with Axiom Space.” The next-generation spacesuits have been described as a revolutionary and "significant milestone" in space exploration, opening a new frontier for luxury fashion brands.
Shown here is the current white cover layer of the Axiom Extravehicular Mobility Unit spacesuit prototype. Prada’s engineers will work alongside the Axiom Space systems team throughout the design process, developing solutions for materials and design features to protect against the unique challenges of space and the lunar surface.
