When she and her husband woke up this morning, they saw a portion of their beloved tree on the ground.The tree has been a part of the Westgate neighborhood for more than 100 years.They say the century-old timber represents stability and security for their family and neighborhood.Unfortunately, a neighbor down the road wasn't as lucky.He was busy trying to clean up the mess.
"I was lucky that it didn't [hit the house]. First, I was startled. I was standing in the screened porch and startled. What is this? I was just happy that it hadn't hit the house," he said.For the Holts, with their tree still standing, it gives them the strength for another day."You know you don't want to cut them down. You want to let them live just like old people. You gotta take care of old people like you take care of your trees," said Charles Holt.
