The Laboratory Animal Medicine Training Program within the Center for Comparative Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking graduate veterinary applicants for a postdoctoral training position.

The postdoctoral fellow will work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary veterinary team to provide care for a diverse population of research animals and undertake a research project while acquiring the didactic training hours required to sit for certification in the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine. The incumbent will also work closely with IACUC administrators to help provide regulatory oversight of the animal care and use program.

Identifies a research lab and spends one year performing an independent research project that will result in a first author publication.Participates and gives lectures in weekly resident seminar series on ACLAM boards material Regulatory responsibilities:Performs IACUC protocol reviews, IACUC facility and lab inspections, and semiannual program evaluations.Minimum QualificationsDoctor of veterinary medicine, licensed to practice veterinary medicine in at least one state.
