As CBS 2's Shardaa Gray reported, a crossing guard for William H. Wells Community Academy High School said she came face-to-face with two young men who returned fire after at least one person in a car fired shots at them. The crossing guard said it happened around 2:30 p.m. near the intersection of Ashland Avenue and Pearson Street.The crossing guard said she saw two young men walking down the street, then gunshots coming from a vehicle, and finally two young man returning fire.When she came back up, she came face-to-face with the two young men and asked them if they were okay. They ran off."We both kind of looked at each other – didn't really know exactly.
No one was struck by the gunfire. The Fire Department said one person was taken to Ascension St. Mary Hospital from the scene, but not for a gunshot wound.No one was in custody late Tuesday.
