Pope Francis has offered prayers for thousands of Filipinos affected by the recent onslaught of Tropical Depression Agaton.
The Pope expressed solidarity with the typhoon victims in an April 14 telegram signed by Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines said. The letter was addressed to Archbishop Charles Brown, Apostolic Nuncio to the Philippines. “He also offers the assurance of prayers for the dead, injured, and displaced as well as those engaged in recovery efforts,” Parolin said in the letter. “As a sign of spiritual closeness, His Holiness willingly invokes upon all the Filipino people God’s blessings of strength and peace."from local authorities showed that death toll in Baybay City and Abuyog town in Leyte due to 'Agaton' increased to 147.
