The Anchorage Police Department said it’s investigating a Thursday homicide after officers responding to a report of a shooting in northeast Anchorage found a man dead.
Patrol officers responded just after 12:15 p.m. Thursday to the 400 block of Mumford Street, the Anchorage Police Department said in aNo arrests have been made so far, police said Thursday afternoon. Police asked anyone with information about the incident who hasn’t talked to police yet to call dispatch at 311 .
In response to questions about what circumstances may have led up to the shooting or whether police have identified any persons of interest or suspects, police spokeswoman Renee Oistad wrote in an email, “This is a very brand new investigation and we have no further details to release right now.”Police also asked members of the public to steer clear of the area, or follow officers’ instructions if they need to be there, as a crime scene team processed the scene.
