Austin officers Tased a man on Research Boulevard because he was injuring himself with a pipe. He later died at a hospital, but his cause of death is unknown.

APD said it received multiple 911 calls at around 3 a.m. that a man with obvious injuries was walking in the lanes of the Research Boulevard service road northbound. Callers reported that the man was bleeding.

APD said at that time, Officer Bores Tased Brown"in order to prevent further injury." The Taser was effective, and Brown fell to the ground. APD Officer Ethan Turk arrived at the scene and also assisted with providing first aid. Officers administered CPR to Brown prior to ATCEMS medics' arrival and when medics arrived, Brown was transported to a hospital in Round Rock.Bodycam footage to be released following APD in-custody death in northwest Austin

This incident was captured on the body-worn cameras of both Bores and Simonton and that video has now been released by APD, in addition to two 911 audio files, one police radio traffic file and the dashcam video from Bores' patrol car.
