According to police, a juvenile who unsuccessfully stole a woman's phone in Old City shot at the woman, striking her male companion in the shoulder and their car with a baby inside.

Officers from the Philadelphia Police Department were called to the 1 Chestnut Street just after midnight Monday for reports of a shooting. According to police, a 23-year-old man was shot once in the back and taken to Jefferson Hospital in stable condition. The victim was with a woman and a young child at the time of the shooting.
Police initially reported the motive in the incident as a possible botched robbery of the woman's cell phone, but they later clarified that there was no robbery attempt. Captain John Walker told FOX 29 that the woman's phone fell out of the car and the victim quickly stopped to retrieve it. When he exited the car, Walker said a nearby group felt threatened and at least one person opened fire.No arrests were reported immediately following the shooting. Authorities say they are looking for 5-6 males who were dressed in dark clothes.
