Police investigating hit-and-run crash that injured pedestrian in Little Italy [Breaking]
A 32-year-old woman was seriously injured early Thursday when she was struck by a hit-and-run driver as she was crossing a street in Little Italy, San Diego police said.
The pedestrian was injured as she walked west in a crosswalk at the intersection of Columbia and West Hawthorn streets shortly before 6:20 a.m., said police Officer David O’Brien. Police said the victim was hit by a gray Nissan Frontier pickup, which was making a left turn from Hawthorn to Columbia. The driver — believed to be a man — took off after the collision.Officers said the woman was bleeding from her head before she was transported to a hospital. She was treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Video shot by OnScene TV shows paramedics loading the woman, dressed in what appeared to be medical scrubs, into an ambulance. OnScene reported she was a nurse who had come home after a night shift at a hospital.
