MANILA, Philippines — Swimmers Kayla Sanchez and Jarold Hatch as well as judoka Kyomi Watanabe qualified for the Paris Olympics, according to the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) on Tuesday.
MANILA, Philippines — Swimmers Kayla Sanchez and Jarold Hatch as well as judoka Kyomi Watanabe qualified for the Paris Olympics , according to the Philippine Olympic Committee on Tuesday. Sanchez and Hatch are making their way to the Olympics through Universality places allocated for the top-ranked female and male swimmers.The 23-year-old Sanchez , who switched nationality from Canada only two years ago, will swim in the women's 100 meters freestyle.
Meanwhile, Watanabe, who also competed at the Tokyo Olympics three years ago, is making her way back to the Olympiad through the Asian continental allocation.The 27-year-old Watanabe, a half Japanese, will compete at the 63 women's kilogram division.With Sanchez, Hatch, and Watanabe's qualifications, the Philippine athlete contingent for the Paris Games rose to 20, eclipsing the country's delegation at the Tokyo Games which was 19.
