Senators believe it is not enough for President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to accept the resignation of drug-linked police officers, saying charges should be filed against them accordingly.
[Translation: We're planning to see if there's a place for these officers at the PHAU in the meantime, but it would be better after the meeting with the ES. I told my directorate for personnel to finish the meeting first to see how the courtesy resignations will work out so our interpretation would be clear and our response would be appropriate.]on Tuesday the courtesy resignations of the cops linked to illegal drug activities.
Acorda said the PNP will continue to monitor and investigate those who resigned, as well as others that were not acted upon. For a number of senators, accepting the resignations is not enough. "The full force of the law should be applied to them to serve as warning to others. Otherwise, we will continue to hear and see this over and over again,” said Senate Majority Leader Joel Villanueva.
Senators Koko Pimentel, Jinggoy Estrada, JV Ejercito, Chiz Escudero, and Bong Revilla also said the police officers must be charged accordingly. "Follow the evidence. If good enough for criminal conviction then they should file the cases. Since dismissed na [already], then that is already the end of an admin case," Pimentel added.
