DEPARTMENT of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benjamin 'Benhur' Abalos Jr.

said on Wednesday that the Philippine National Police is focused on resolving high-profile killings against local officials.Abalos said he recently met with Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez to discuss steps being taken by the PNP to resolve these high profile killings, including seeking the support of Congress for additional funds to strengthen the ranks of the police.

According to Abalos, among the initiatives laid out by the DILG and the PNP in the said meeting are intensifying the use of technology in the fight against criminality, reviewing the law on the sale of vehicles; and recruiting more police.'It was also discussed what things we can do to fight this type of crime. We were able to discuss among others the usage of technology in the fight against criminality, and maximum police visibility,' he said.
