THE Philippine National Police assured the public of its readiness to secure the first State of the Nation Address of President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos, Jr. despite the shooting incident at the Ateneo de Manila University in Quezon City, where at least three people died.PNP Director for Operations PMGen. Valeriano De Leon said the incident is now being investigated to determine how the gunman was able to carry a firearm inside the school premises.

Vicente Danao, Jr. to further intensify the security measures in Quezon City by tightening inspection on checkpoints, as well as implementing the gun ban in Metro Manila, which started on July 22 and will last until July 27.According to the report, the former mayor of Lamitan City, Rose Furigay, and a security guard who tried to stop the gunman, Dr. Chao Yumol, from running away after the attack, were among those who died.The third fatality was believed to be a personal assistant to Furigay.
