For the first time since 1999, Lake Station voters have a choice in every contest on the Nov. 7 ballot.
GOP city chairman Randy Alexander Sr. said he’s proud of assembling a full slate of candidates, although he had to include three family members to round out the slate. Alexander revived the dormant GOP organization eight years ago when he took over as city chairman. Democrats still control every municipal office. “For eight years, we’ve been moving forward to Nov. 7. We have a diverse group of people. I wanted it that way, there’s not a lot of sheep,” said Alexander.

Luna said he’s had differences with Mayor Bill Carroll, but strongly supports him. “Bill’s come a long way and he’s not perfect, but his communications line is open,” said Luna.
