the city utilizes a third-party software application that monitors and scrapes data from short-term-rental online platforms Airbnb, Vrbo and others, in addition to identifying the location of the properties. If a host posts a new listing in Plano on one of the short-term-rental platforms while the ban is in place, Lussier said it will pop up in the system.
Lussier said Plano intends to work with residents as much as it can, like allowing more time for them to sort things out. But when the city can’t work with them anymore, Lussier said Plano will seek court action.
