JK Dobbins looks like a running back reborn. Finally healthy, Dobbins has shined under new Chargers offensive coordinator Greg Roman. His backup, Gus Edwards, is running as strong as he was when he played in the AFC North with the Baltimore Ravens. There is a lot of that Ravens fabric to the Chargers.
The Steelers have other things to worry about with Justin Herbert in the passing game, too. However, they have no shot at slowing down this Chargers offense without slowing down the rushing attack first.The Steelers’ offensive line has a challenge this week. Not only do the Chargers run an exotic scheme that harkens back to Mike Macdonald’s defenses at Michigan and Baltimore under defensive coordinator Jesse Minter, but they have two elite edge rushers.
Coupled with Minter’s exotic zones on the back end and different gap mugs up front, Justin Fields needs to be one of his Ps and Qs as a processor. Fields can be baited into making bad decisions, but through two weeks, he has done well against Raheem Morris and Vance Joseph, two coaches who like to ramp up the heat. He must do so again.If the Steelers want to be sure they will win this game, they will likely need to score 20 or more points.
