A woman and her young son survived an attack near that police classified as ‘domestic-violence-related”
PITTSBURG — A woman and her 8-year-old son were recovering from gunshot wounds they suffered in a “targeted” attack Friday night as they were riding in a car near City Park.
Police on Saturday released few details about the suspect, but police classified the attack as “domestic-violence-related,” saying that the woman and the suspect knew each other. Police also said they were using the department’s city-wide surveillance system to identity and locate the person. The woman and the boy were reported to be in stable condition at local hospitals, according to a release from the Pittsburg Police Department. The woman suffered multiple gunshot wounds, while the boy sustained a non-life-threatening wound to the left shoulder.
Police responded to the attack at Davi and Civic avenues around 9:06 p.m., finding the woman and her son wounded. The preliminary investigation shows that the woman and her son were traveling on Civic Avenue, when another car hit them. The driver of that car fired multiple rounds into their car, leaving theirs incapacitated. The suspect’s car fled the scene.
