The 29-year-old Pittsburg resident was shot by officers responding to a report that he was recklessly firing a rifle in a neighborhood.
PITTSBURG — A Pittsburg officer armed with a service rifle shot and wounded a man who allegedly fired a rifle towards officers who were responded to a 911 call, police said in a news release.
It all started around 11:30 p.m. Friday, when police were called to a home on the 1300 block of Redwood Street in Pittsburg, by a woman who reported her son was firing a rifle outside their home. The responding officers were able to get her and her husband out of the home without the son noticing, according to a Pittsburg police news release.
An officer shot the 29-year-old man with a service rifle, and he retreated back into the house, called 911, and told the dispatcher he’d been shot. The dispatcher told him to go outside and surrender, and he did, authorities said.
