Mount Kanlaon in the Negros Island region exploded on Monday, prompting the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology to raise it to Alert Level 3, which indicates a state of ‘magmatic unrest.’
Phivolcs advised all local government units to evacuate people from within the six-kilometer of the volcano. Online videos shared by residents nearby show the volcano emitting thick clouds of smoke.
