THE Philippine Space Agency warned the public against falling debris from the Long March 7A rocket that China launched Monday from the Wenchang Space Launch Center in Hainan Island.The agency has identified two drop zones – in Ilocos Norte and Cagayan province.PhilSA said drop zone area 1 is 79.877 kilometers from Burgos, Ilocos Norte, and 121.306 kilometers from Dalupiri Island in the Babuyan Islands while drop zone area 2 is 41.686 kilometers from Sta. Ana, Cagayan, 41.
PhilSA's Space Technology Missions and Systems Bureau director Marc Caesar Talamp told The Manila Times that his agency has coordinated with the concerned local government units where the unburned debris were likely to fall.The agency said that unburned debris from rockets, such as the booster and faring, are designed to be discarded as the rocket enters outer space.Falling debris can be a danger to ships, aircraft, fishing boats, and other vessels.
