Kyle Schwarber and Trea Turner were hit by pitches with the bases loaded to force in the tying and go-ahead run in the eighth inning Sunday afternoon for the host Philadelphia Phillies, who built a bizarre four-run rally to edge the New York Mets 7-6 in the finale of a three-game series.
The Phillies improved to 15-6 since being swept by the Mets in a three-game series from May 30 through June 1. New York, which hasn't won a series since, is 5-15 since the sweep.
Bryce Harper led off by drawing a walk against Walker, who gave up a single to J.T. Realmuto before walking Bryson Stott. Brigham entered and induced Alec Bohm to ground to third, but Brett Baty double-clutched and then threw wide of second baseman Jeff McNeil for an error as Harper scored. The rally made a winner of Jeff Hoffman , who struck out two in a perfect eighth. Craig Kimbrel plunked Pete Alonso leading off the ninth but retired the next three batters -- two by strikeout -- to earn his 11th save.
