The Philippines justice department has accused Vice President Sara Duterte of being the mastermind behind a plot to assassinate President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., giving her five days to respond to a subpoena. Duterte made the explosive claim during a weekend press conference where she said she had instructed security personnel to kill Marcos if an alleged plot to kill her succeeded.
Manila, Philippines — The Philippines justice department on Monday labeled Vice President Sara Duterte the “mastermind” of a plot to assassinate the country’s president, giving her five days to respond to a subpoena.
Hours earlier, in his first public comments on the matter, Marcos vowed to “fight back” in the face of a threat he labeled “disturbing.” In the expletive-laced press conference, Duterte also singled out first lady Liza Araneta-Marcos and presidential cousin Martin Romualdez as potential targets.

Paolo Duterte, the Vice President's brother, criticized the House of Representatives for the standoff, stating that it insisted on serving a transfer order for Lopez to a correctional facility in Mandaluyong City despite her legal objections.
