The Philippines, Japan, and the United States are entering a new era of trilateral cooperation to ensure a peaceful and prosperous Indo-Pacific region. The leaders of the three countries met in Washington to strengthen their alliance and commitment to a free and open Indo-Pacific.
MANILA, Philippines — Trilateral relations among the Philippines , Japan and the United States are entering a “new era” with the three longtime allies working in earnest to ensure their “shared vision” of a peaceful and prosperous Indo-Pacific region, a White House official said on Wednesday.
“The events of this week clearly illustrate the President’s continued commitment to strengthening our key alliances and partnerships, innovating around shared challenges and exploring new areas of cooperation,” she said. Asked about the possibility of institutionalizing the alliance of the three countries, Rapp-Hooper said, “We are absolutely hopeful about being able to institutionalize this cooperation.”
“We stand strongly by our alliance commitments to the Philippines, and that is one of the things we will be talking to President Marcos about when he is in town,” she said. “Our country’s deeper economic integration with the United States and Japan will undoubtedly benefit our people in terms of jobs and livelihood opportunities and contribute to regional prosperity,” he added.
