The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) highlights a new employment avenue for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Saudi Arabia as residential support workers and cleaners, distinct from traditional domestic worker roles. This position involves skilled work visas and prohibits placement fees.

AS THE leading destination for overseas Filipino workers , the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is known to be a hotbed for domestic workers. OFWs, however, have another type of employment opportunity in KSA in the position of residential support worker/cleaner for residential households, the Department of Migrant Workers said. In a statement, the DMW noted that residential support workers and/or cleaner for residential households are different from those employed as domestic workers.

She said residential support workers will also be holding skilled work visa and not domestic worker visa, while stressing that there should be no placement fees to be collected. The DMW said their employers will directly be the mega recruitment companies . The department said the residential support workers will be receiving a monthly salary of 1,500 riyals, and an additional 500 riyals as food allowance, with overtime pay if they work past the eight hours work hours based on Saudi law.
