The Philippine government is in the process of crafting guidelines for the conduct of combined maritime activities in the West Philippine Sea — including joint patrols with regional partners.
This was announced on Thursday by the Department of Foreign Affairs , adding that talks are also underway on the operational details of the upcoming maritime activities.
“Meetings have already been set and probably we may have the Japanese and the Australians join in,” Romualdez said. The Japanese embassy in Manila, however, clarified that there are no official discussions yet with the Philippines, US, and Australia on joint maritime patrols.
