LordOfTheRings director Peter Jackson opens up about Amazon's TheRingsOfPower and says he's looking forward to the series. 'I’m not the sort of guy who wishes ill will. Filmmaking is hard enough.'
Peter Jackson opens up about The Lord of the Rings prequel series The Rings of Power. Penned by J.R.R. Tolkien, Lord of the Rings remains one of the most celebrated and popular fantasy book series ever written. In 2001, the film adaptation of Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Rings, helmed by Jackson, debuted in theaters. Fellowship of the Rings was the first film of the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies, which were a massive success at the box office.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Set in a timeline thousand of years before Frodo Baggins embarks on his mission to destroy the One Ring, The Rings of Power takes place in The Second Age. Lasting 3,441 years, The Second Age begins with the downfall of antagonist Morgoth, marks the forging of the One Ring, and stages the war between the Elves and Sauron.
I’ll be watching it. I’m not the sort of guy who wishes ill will. Filmmaking is hard enough. If somebody makes a good film or TV show, it’s something to celebrate. The one thing I am looking forward to is actually seeing it as a perfectly neutral viewer. For now, it appears The Rings of Power can count on Jackson as a viewer when the series debuts next month. In addition to Jackson, cast members from the original films have voiced their support for bringing The Lord of the Rings to the small screen. Sean Astin, who portrayed hobbit Samwise Gamgee, stated he was eager for a new generation to experience Tolkien's work after being asked about the Rings of Power.
Helmed by Patrick McKay and J.D. Payne, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is one of the most anticipated offerings slated to arrive to streaming this year. The Rings of Power, set for a five-season run, has a chance to offer new insight into Tolkien's work while setting itself apart from Jackson's trilogies. Indeed, Tolkien fans won't have to wait much longer to see the next Lord of the Rings saga unfold in the highly-anticipated The Rings of Power series.
