BREAKING UPDATE: A man has been taken into custody at gunpoint near where a Phoenix officer was shot this morning near 7th and Southern avenues.
PHOENIX — One person has been taken into custody in connection to a shooting Friday morning that left an officer hospitalized.
When the first officer arrived at the scene she saw the suspect matching the description provided to her. The suspect started shooting at her in an"ambush" attack, according to Phoenix Police Sergeant Brian Bower. Her name hasn't been released but officials say she has been on the Phoenix PD force for just one year.A second officer was bitten by a dog while at the scene and is being treated at a hospital, according to multiple sources. Police officials say that officer has since been released.
