There's a city in Pennsylvania that's among the top 10 best for birdwatching in the country.
Lawn Love conducted and published a studyIn creating this study, Lawn Love researchers first established four main categories on which to grade cities: “Access;” “Bird Variety;” “Popularity;” and “Conservation.” Relevant metrics — “Number of Audubon Centers and Sanctuaries;” “Number of Nests Found in 2023;” and “Number of Birding Organizations” among them — were then mixed in for final rankings.
It was Philadelphia that snatched up that seventh overall spot, ranking seventh also in just the “Conservation” as well. As far as top three cities go, those would be, in ascending order: Houston, Texas; San Diego, Calif.; and New York, N.Y. “Soaring to the top overall and in Access and Conservation is New York,” reads the study. “The Big Apple boasts the most Audubon centers and sanctuaries, birding organizations, and bird nests found so far this year.cities that birdwatchers should try to avoid, those were found to be Olathe, Kansas; Montgomery, Ala.; and Kansas City, Kansas in dead last.
