Penn State star Abdul Carter was recognized as one of college football's best players.

Joe Hermitt | [email protected] Carter was recognized as one of the best defensive players in the country on Monday, being named a preseason All-American by the Associated Press.
Carter was the only Penn State player represented on the AP’s first and second teams. The AP preseason All-America teams are voted on by a collection of media members across the sport. Carter was a first-team All-Big Ten honoree last season after starting 13 games and recording 48 tackles , 5 1/2 tackles for loss, 4 1/2 sacks, five pass breakups, five quarterback hurries, an interception and a forced fumble at linebacker.
