There’s plenty to like about the streak and what’s stood out the most is this: PSU has won each of the nine games with relative ease. That’s not supposed to happen in this sport. There are typically weeks in which the best teams struggle against inferior competition. It actually happened to James Franklin’s team almost a year ago today.
Northwestern was the opponent. Penn State, 4-0 coming in, was a heavy favorite at Beaver Stadium. But the Lions turned the ball over five times in a 17-7 win at Beaver Stadium. The good news? Penn State has yet to turn the ball over in 2023. If the Lions win the turnover battle today, Northwestern should not post much of a threat.
