There is always some place worth discovering when one visits Camarines Sur for the nth time.

Less than an hour’s drive from Naga City, you’ll find yourself in the secluded and underrated Bagolatao Beach, a 3-kilometer seaside stretch covered— not with fine sand, but with pebbles and cobbles. Now’s the perfect time, we decided. Even when the weather was not on our side, we packed a hearty lunch, hopped on our trusty scooter, and went off.

Once we arrived after a good 45-minute ride, I immediately headed to the beach to check out what it is known for. While you may not find posh resorts and high-end hotel lodgings here, the place still offers a calming respite away from bustling city life. Choose from an array of beach resorts lined with nipa hut accommodations you can rent for the day or overnight.

I learned that there is also a viewpoint called Bagapuso Point, a giant rock formation located at the far end of the beach, which takes a few minutes to hike. It offers stunning beach views, which can be best experienced during sundown. We were not able to try it, but we’ll save it for our next visit.
