The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) will deploy its newest and largest vessel in the vicinity waters of Central Visayas to intensify its maritime security in the area. ManilaBulletin

The newly acquired vessel that will be deployed is BRP Teresa Magbanua , a multi-role response vessel and one of the largest, and most modern vessels being operated by the PCG.

BRP Teresa Magbanua, the Philippine Coast Guard’s newest and largest vessel, will be deployed in the vicinity waters of Central Visayas. The vessel, named after Teresa Magbanua – a Filipino school teacher who participated in all three resistance movements in Philippine history: Against Spain , the United States , and Japan – was built in Japan.The deployment of the vessel in the region is part of the regular conduct of maritime patrol to intensify the enforcement of maritime laws related to safety, security, and environmental protection in Central Visayas, said PCG Lt.

Aniban disclosed that the vessel will dock at the port of Dumaguete City tentatively from April 27 to 30. During the period, Aniban said officers and crew of BRP Teresa Magbanua will host an open house to all maritime stakeholders, local government units of Negros Oriental, and other interested individuals to showcase the newest and largest vessel of the PCG.
