A new report predicts above-average fire danger for the northern U.S. this summer:
California is expected to see fewer fire threats this summer.to get weekday updates from The Weather Channel and our meteorologists.
This follows several notable fires across Canada in recent months and recent warmth in the northern states in the past week. The silver lining on these new outlooks is that California is expected to face fewer fire threats in the months to come. The Golden State has faced several years of extreme drought and multiple terrible fire seasons in a row, but this past winter's heavy rainfall may keep us from repeating those years.Warmer and drier conditions expected this summer should lead to a higher than average potential for fire growth across the Great Lakes and Interior Northwest.
