The principal of Dr. Pat Henderson Elementary School has died, Northside ISD confirmed Friday afternoon.
Thomas Mackey reportedly passed away Thursday evening, though details surrounding what happened are limited at this time.
Mackey was the first principal at Henderson Elementary and has served as an educator for at least 29 years, according to his biography on theBefore taking the position at Henderson, Mackey taught fourth and fifth grades at Brauchle Elementary, was the vice principal at Burke Elementary for four years and was the principal at Fernandez Elementary for six years, his bio states.
Henderson Elementary is urging parents to monitor their children during this difficult time. If further support is needed, school families can reach out to the campus at 210-398-1050. “We will support each other as a community in the days and weeks to come,” the district said in a statement.
