The power outage, which happened around 11 a.m., knocked out parts of the Dauphin County Prison’s air conditioning system into Friday evening, county officials confirmed.

“We got no power and no ventilation,” an incarcerated man at the prison said. “There’s a toxic smell coming out of the vents. We haven’t eaten and people still need their medical attention and they are acting like they can’t do anything about it.” Cell doors at the prison had to be manually opened with a key at one point and one person said he witnessed multiple medical emergencies take place.
