As his pseudonym suggests, the ukulele is the central element of BoyWithUke’s compositions, which exude electronic pop and alternative rock vibes. His use of semirapped verses also keeps things catchy and upbeat.
BoyWithUke, who writes and produces all his music with a tablet, started out by putting out short songs from fan prompts and requests. One such song is “Toxic,” which was written in response to a listener who asked him to do one about “toxic friends.” The single went viral, reaching 1.5 billion streams and topping Billboard’s Alternative Airplay chart. And to date, the song has been used in 278,000 TikTok videos.
He has so far released three studio albums—“Melatonin Dreams,” “Fever Dreams” and “Serotonin Dreams”—and three extended plays . And now, armed with a deal with Republic Records and a slew of other hits and streaming magnets such as “IDGAF,” “Two Moons” and “Understand,” BoyWithUke is poised for a mainstream breakthrough.Subscribe to our daily newsletter
